Use workforce data to improve conditions, capability and trust

Social reporting should show how the organisation manages its workforce and affected people—not simply list programmes and volunteer hours.

01

Start with legal and operational fundamentals

Map the Employment Act, workplace safety and health duties, fair employment expectations, foreign-worker arrangements, contractor controls and grievance processes applicable to the workforce. The Workplace Fairness Act was passed in 2025 and the Government currently targets commencement at the end of 2027; monitor final implementation guidance.

02

Measure what management can act on

  • Workforce composition, employment type and location.
  • Turnover, hiring, retention and internal mobility.
  • Fatalities, injuries, occupational illness and corrective actions.
  • Training, skills, leadership pipeline and critical capability gaps.
  • Pay, benefits and working-time indicators where material.
  • Grievances, discrimination, harassment and remediation outcomes.
03

Improve disclosure quality

Explain definitions, workforce coverage and contractor boundaries. Present trends and root-cause analysis, distinguish leading from lagging indicators, and protect personal data. Sensitive workforce information should be aggregated and access-controlled.
